The 180 In Detail
The base
The 180's large frame creates a triangular footprint — three points of ground contact that give you stability on rough, uneven, and steep terrain. Despite its presence, the subframe is lighter than it looks at only 95 kg, and its actual footprint is smaller than many machines on the market.
190° of rotation via a braked hydraulic motor on a 1-inch high tensile chain drive. Motor rotation speed equals arm rotation speed, giving you precise, powerful control. 600 mm of end shift sits on top of the rotation.
On steep ground, the 180's rotational ability lets you move weight behind the tractor wheel, adding safety. Slew the machine while driving to shift balance to the uphill side. An optional slew kit allows you to control rotation from the tractor seat without stopping to walk to the valve bank.
With a conventional fixed machine, you're constantly repositioning the tractor, hopping on and off, shuffling to line up. With the 180, the post driver does the moving. Get the tractor close enough, then move the rammer to the mark. One operator, one position, multiple posts.
Telescopic mast
The telescopic mast is the backbone of the 180. It compacts to 3.1 m for safe travel under power lines and bridges, and extends to 5.4 m for full working height — enough to drive a 4.2 m post with room to spare.
Pull posts and strainers on the spot via chain hook — up to 11 tonne of pulling power. More than a front-end loader, and faster because you're not moving the machine.
The mast allows you to drives posts all the way to ground level without extra tools. Drive foots, deadman anchors, and subterranean tie-backs.
20° of hydraulic side tilt gets you back to plumb on angled ground. The hydraulic top link controls forward and backward angle — draft in, draft out, stand it up or lay it over. Combined, you can position the mast precisely in virtually any orientation.
The working face is hardened Bizalloy steel, replaceable after years of heavy use without disturbing the mast's structural integrity.
Hydraulic legs
Hydraulic legs level and stabilise the 180 on uneven ground — and in fencing, there's no such thing as flat ground.
The 180 supports up to 3 hydraulic feet when tractor-mounted: 1 under the mast and 2 under the base. On a skid steer mount, only 1 hydraulic foot is needed under the mast. They stabilise the machine during hammer strikes, which reduces stress and wear across every component, and lets you work positions that would otherwise push the machine around.
Standard machines come with manual-adjust feet only. Hydraulic feet are a recommended upgrade.
Mounting, safety, and operation
The 180 mounts to a tractor or skid steer and switches between them in minutes. Also compatible with tracked machines, diggers, and bulldozers.
The valve bank is independently mounted on the base, not the mast, so your controls stay stable regardless of mast angle. A safety pin secures the hammer during travel. A port relief valve in the hammer circuit protects your seal kit and rope from pressure spikes. The hammer valve is isolated from other controls to prevent accidental activation.
Revolution also offers a remote control service for your skid steer — the operator stands outside the machine and drives the rammer to them. One person, no cab time, more posts in the ground.

Upgrades and accessories
Upgrades
Live post cap — Follows the post as it drives down on an angle. Stops the post springing to the side when you lift the cap off. Replaces the standard contractors cap.
Slew kit — Allows rotation from the tractor seat while driving, so you don't need to stop and walk to the valve bank to slew. Not applicable on skid steer mounts.
Heavier hammer — Upgrade from the standard 300 kg to 340 kg+.
Hydraulic feet — Up to 3 hydraulic feet on a tractor mount. Standard machines come with manual-adjust feet only. Recommended for contoured or uneven terrain.
Accessories
Post rack — Carry up to 30 fence posts and 9 strainers on the base frame.
Storage trays — Trays in the base for chains, tools, and hardware.
Rock spike kit — For displacing stone, river run, asphalt, and shingle beds.

Spirit level holder
Most machines go out with both a rock spike kit and an auger kit — ground conditions can change within a few kilometres. Rock spikes displace stone. Augers drill and remove sedimentary material. Both are interchangeable and swap over on two main hinge pins.

No. The Telescopic 180 is designed with on-board balance and does not require a counterweight. The main weight sits where it should on the machine — one of the benefits of being designed with practical fencing knowledge.

The 180 weighs approximately 1,350 kg and runs comfortably on a 80 hp tractor. In hill country, 90 hp plus is recommended.
