Frequently Asked Questions

Telescopic 180 Rotational Postdriver

+ Does the 180 need a counterweight?

No. The telescopic 180 is designed for on board balance and does not require a counterweight. One of the benefits of being designed with practical knowledge, is knowing where the main weight should sit on a post driver and how advantageous on board balance is to the overall design.

+ Is The 180 big and heavy?

Not even! The 180 rammer weighs only 1100 kg and requires a tractor 90 hp plus for when operating in hill country.

+ The 180 looks like it sits a long way off the Tractor?

While the 180 has 3.1 metres of reach from the rear of the tractor wheels the ability to move the mast around the subframe rotation allows the post rammer to compact up behind either of side of the tractor, close to the wheel.

+ What are the Advantages of base movement?

Base movement is everything if you want to maintain fast efficient systems. It eliminates the need to get on and off the tractor more than once per post and it increases safety immeasurably when moving around in awkward or hilly terrain. Revolution offers advantages not only of reaching into awkward tight areas but also providing you with the base movement to drive posts when the going gets less than ideal.

Telescopic Swinga Post Driver

+ What advantages does the Swinga have over the 180?

The Swinga was originally designed for the landscaping and vineyard markets with a narrow base to accommodate access requirements. Therefore the Swinga can get into very narrow situations. The Swinga has also been popular with Fencing Contractors and Farmers with one of the reasons is this post rammer can also go onto a smaller tractor 70 hp plus, so some have purchased because it means they don’t have to upgrade their tractor size.

Telescopic SS Post Driver

+ What base movement does the SS have?

900 mm sideshift, plus the option of 900 mm for/aft movement means that there is nearly a square metre of base movement. The benefit is reduced accuracy when moving the tractor and only getting off once. Therefore, only one person is required to efficiently operate both the tractor and the post driver.

Telescopic RM Post Driver

+ Does the RM have movement in the base?

Yes by adding the Shifta you can have 400 mm side to side movement in the base of this rear mount design.

Telescopic mast

+ Why is the mast so short?

Revolutions have a fully hydraulic telescopic mast that operates up and down via pulling a lever on the valve bank. Advantages include being able to post at any height and not having to work with a tall mast all the time.

+ What other benefits are there with a telescopic mast?

Balance; compactness; strength; all adjustments to height fast & efficient; angles; pulling posts & strainers; lifting strainers, poles, rolls of netting; driving to ground level. Take the post cap off and the Strainer/post can be driven to ground level.

Post driver Accessories

+ What is the advantage of the hydraulic legs?

Because of the scope of movement and reach with a Revolution Post driver a hydraulic leg, or the hydraulic legs (depending on the model) help balance up the base and alleviate stress points.

+ Does the Telescopic mast pull out the rock spike?

Yes the Telescopic mast pulls the rock spike out of the ground. The Telescopic mast also pulls post posts and strainers.

+ What Auger motor type suits my conditions?

Our standard motor with 880 newtons suits easier going country, including clay. The planetary motors (2 options of 1700 newton and 2100 newtons) suit hard pans and areas such as Otago, Hawkes Bay and a number of other regions that there is papa, sandstone, pans, schist, very dry drought conditions.

+ Are the Auger and Rock spike kits easy to change over?

Yes they were designed to be easily interchangeable in the field. Until the Auger motor hoses and pull two pins will free up the auger kit and allow the Rock spike kit to be easily fitted or visa versa.
